From the beginning of November, when nature begins to drift into hibernation, stillness returns to the South of South Tyrol. In December, this stillness is interrupted by the sweet sound of the Christmas markets. The streets in the towns and villages are decorated with lights and branches of fir trees, Christmas trees are erected and Christmas events sweeten any shopping spree.
Christmas markets in Bolzano/Bozen and Merano/Meran
In Merano/Meran, the stands are situated along the Passerpromenade. In Bolzano/Bozen, the booths are found at the Waltherplatz. Apart from gingerbread, mulled wine, apple mix and fantastic South Tyrolean quality products, there are also Christmas decorations on offer, plus self-knit items, nativity scenes and much more.
As an additional excursion during the pre-Christmas season, we recommend a visit to the
village of Saint Paul and the
clay manufacturer Thun. You can enjoy more sporting activities at the largest
climbing hall in Italy, the
Salewa Cube, on
snow-shoe hiking trips and
swimming events in the
Therme Merano/Meran.
